Medical Director- Student Health Center (Finance)
1. Works as a member of the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Health and Wellbeing leadership team and supports the Executive Director in the daily operations of the SHC.
2. Provides oversight for licensed physicians and other health care providers.
3. Manages overall responsibility for medical decisions for the SHC.
4. Represents the Health Center by serving on university committees that require a physician and acts as a physician liaison with the College of Medicine and other health-related professional Colleges and the local medical community, including outreach and consultation.
5. Provides direct patient care, including utilizing electronic medical records and medical history, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.
6. Orders and interprets laboratory tests, x-rays, EKGs and so forth.
7. Performs minor surgical procedures such as suturing lacerations.
8. Provides health education, counseling to patients and patient referrals to other physicians or hospitals for further treatment and care as needed.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
MQ: Education: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
Required: At least three (3) years of progressive management/administrative experience in a health care setting. Preferred: Experience in a Higher Education health clinic setting. Certification/Licensing: Medical degree and unrestricted medical license required. Preferred: Board certification in designated specialty. Evidence of Collegiate Health professional development through the American College Health Association (ACHA) or similar.
