About the Role

Essity is looking for an experienced Environmental Specialist. This position will be based in our manufacturing organization in Harrodsburg, KY.

What You Will Do

  • Uncompromised commitment to our I Care journey which ensures a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment

  • Leader of site's Environmental Management System including writing, communicating and implementation of the site's environmental policies 

  • Ensures adherence to environmental laws and regulations at the site including monitoring and reporting  

  • Ensures implementation and completion of environmental related company requirements  

  • Coordination of the RESH Environmental strategy

  • Identifies important, emerging environmental trends and ensures that the site is equipped to continually improve 

  • Executes environmental awareness programs across the site in alignment with company strategy  

  • Trains the Site Organization and supports transfer of skills related to environment 

  • Coordinates investigations and actions required through closure for Environmental incidents, non-compliances, and non-conformities 

  • Participates in internal and external environmental audits received and coordination of site lead internal environmental audits 

  • Point of contact for local environmental regulatory and affected certification agencies

  • Participant with local trade associations regarding environmental topics 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field 
  • 1+ years' experience in environmental engineering or science preferred 
  • Proficiency in understanding and applying relevant environmental laws and regulations 
  • Experience in environmental management systems  
  • Technical knowledge across a broad spectrum of environmental aspects and requirements (e.g. water and wastewater, waste, air emissions, incident prevention and response, reporting, etc.)  
  • MS Office including File Manager, Excel, Word and Outlook, and Teams, or ability to learn in a timely manner 
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written form 
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills 
  • Organization skills and attention to detail 
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage change effectively

Expected Compensation:

Competitive annual salary + annual incentive bonus + benefits.
