Environmental Compliance Specialist (Finance)



Job Description:

Woodruff & Howe Environmental Engineering, LLC, an Inframark Company, is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist, whose primary responsibility will be to develop environmental regulatory compliance plans, reports and other correspondence for industrial clients. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be on a Team led by a registered engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and update Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and related documents for various industrial clients and projects.
  • Prepare required regulatory reports and documentation for submission to local, state, and federal environmental agencies as may be required by client wastewater discharge permits, air permits, etc. Examples include NPDES applications, air permit applications, routine regulatory reports, etc.
  • Conduct on-site environmental compliance assessments of clients' facilities to identify potential sources of stormwater pollution and perform facility compliance evaluations for various environmental regulations.
  • Provide training to clients on environmental regulations, SPCC and SWPPP implementation, responsibilities, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform field work and travel to client sites.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Eagerness to learn new things.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience with environmental regulatory compliance activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with GIS mapping and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of EPA regulations and State stormwater management practices.
  • Knowledge of environmental sample collection and field analysis.

Working Conditions:

  • An Office setting
  • Occasional field work at client locations (clients located throughout the U.S., but concentrated in the southeastern U.S.).
  • May involve exposure to industrial settings, weather conditions, and physical activity (e.g., walking, climbing ladders).
