Quality Engineer I (Finance)



SUMMARY The role of a Quality Engineer I is to provide effective quality leadership to their Value Stream Team (VST) and technicians. They work under the guidance of the quality manager. They are responsible for planning, initiating, coordinating, and evaluating activities related to the application, development, and maintenance of quality tasks, processes, and systems for company products. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that company products meet the required quality standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Develop and implement standards and methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating products. Implement programs to assess the accuracy of production and testing equipment. Assist workers in measuring and testing products and tabulate material, product, process quality, and reliability data. Develop and deliver quality training materials to increase awareness. Oversee investigations of failures and analyze process issues. Address customer concerns about quality-related issues. Participate in customer and regulatory audits. Monitor changes in quality performance and communicate information to employees. Assist in sampling procedures and data evaluation for quality and reliability reporting. Review customer specifications and purchase order codes. Attend internal and customer design reviews. Ensure approved data transfers for new products to production. Evaluate manufacturing and production issues and customer complaints to identify opportunities for improving product performance. Participate in the design and process of FMEAs, Design of Experiments, Process/Product Capability Studies, and Product Liability Meetings. Continuously improve quality systems and processes. *Other duties as required in support of the department and the company* SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES Supervisory responsibilities involve overseeing and managing a team or individual to ensure adequate performance and job satisfaction and contribute to individuals' career goals. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, or a related field, and 2+ years' experience in a leadership role in Quality within an ISO and AS9100-controlled or government-regulated environment. Experience in Root Cause Analysis investigation, 5-Why's, Fishbone, 8D, etc., is required. Strong Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality standards. Proven experience in a manufacturing quality control role. Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification, obtained at the manager's discretion, may be specific to the work location. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Process Analyst preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt preferred. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Conversational in any other language is a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages. Statistics: Interpret and analyze numerical data using statistical methods. Basic algebra: The ability to manipulate symbols and equations to find unknown values, express relationships, and model situations. Basic Geometry: The ability to understand and work with shapes, angles, lines, and planes. Basic Trigonometry: Understanding essential trigonometry functions and how they relate to engineering drawings and specifications. JOB SKILLS Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint. Able to learn a new database system, SAP, and associated software efficiently. Knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred. Excellent knowledge of blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and ASME Y14.5M. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Good team player with the ability to collaborate with various departments. Strong communication skills to effectively convey quality standards and procedures. Reliable and flexible to work additional hours on short notice to complete orders or special projects to meet customer or internal demands. PHYSICAL DEMANDS As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing protection in specific locations. Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas. Therefore, candidates must qualify as US Persons, defined as US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders). TRAVEL Approximately 5% of travel is expected. SALARY INFORMATION According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $90,000 and $115,000 annually. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline.
