Manufacturer Software Specialist - PlasmaSource - Remote Part-Time (Finance)



Description

Vitalant is currently seeking a Manufacturing Software Specialist to support our lifesaving mission by ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing software systems. In this role, you'll support a specialized team known as PlasmaSource , serving as the expert and go-to resource for assigned software applications used in manufacturing. You'll also lead project management efforts related to evaluating, developing, and implementing software updates, coordinating implementation activities, and overseeing software change control processes-all in support of providing safe, high-quality blood products to patients in need.

This is a part-time (20-25 hours/ week) temporary role lasting 9-12 months.

As a Manufacturing Software Specialist, you'll get to:

  • Contribute to strategic planning by identifying future software and technology needs.
  • Manage cross-functional software projects, including evaluations, cost/benefit analysis, resource planning, and implementation.
  • Lead software implementations, validations, training, and technical support for manufacturing centers.
  • Visit centers to assess software use and provide hands-on technical support and guidance.
  • Research and evaluate new software applications and configurations for internal use and vendor integration.
  • Ensure systems align with Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory requirements; support audits and corrective actions.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle-from change requests to testing and defect resolution.
  • Apply knowledge of software testing tools and automation to streamline testing processes.
  • Gather and define software requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and configure production software settings.
  • Troubleshoot vendor software issues, define testing needs, and validate software changes.
  • Stay current with vendor software updates and maintain strong professional relationships across the organization and industry.

Requirements

Knowledge/ Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Current understanding of federal and AABB standards governing blood industry manufacturing activities preferred.
Licenses/ Certifications
  • Quality Center and automated testing application certification preferred.
Experience
  • Five years related experience required.
