Express Service Advisor (Administrative)



Express Service Advisor

Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 per year

Schedule: Rotating Monday-Thursday 7am-6pm, Wednesday-Saturday 7am-6pm & Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday 7am-6pm

Summary: An Express Service Advisor is responsible for communicating with customers about their vehicle repair needs and relaying information to the Service Technicians. Their duties include greeting customers and helping them determine repairs and relevant costs, maintaining up-to-date knowledge about their employer's range of services and contacting customers to update them about their vehicle's repair status.

Goal: To provide outstanding customer service while maximizing the sales of needed maintenance services and related parts.

Job Duties:

  • Consulting with technicians about needed repairs and alternatives that can be offered in place of expensive repairs
  • Answering customer questions about service outcomes and consulting with technicians when necessary
  • Informing customers about potential cost savings and warranty protections
  • Assisting customer with deciding to fix their car through the dealership's shop 
  • Overseeing and managing the Express Service Center's scheduling and workflow
  • Informing customers of changes in service or when their vehicle is ready to be picked up
  • Present and sell needed maintenance services and related parts to customers  
  • Identify customer requests  
  • Conduct a complete vehicle walkaround  
  • Present multipoint inspection results to customers  
  • Recommend needed maintenance services and related parts  
  • Conduct a detailed active delivery of each vehicle 
  • Make appropriate prospecting and follow-up contacts with vehicle owners  
  • Provide outstanding customer service in accordance with dealership policies  
  • Maintain current knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements, operations, warranties and campaigns, and Technical Service Bulletins  
  • Maintain current knowledge of state and local laws and regulations related to automotive service and repair, including lemon laws  
  • Write complete, accurate repair orders in accordance with dealership policies

Skills & Knowledge:  Excellent communication and customer relations skills Strong customer service focus  Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking ability  Valid driver's license 

Qualifications: 

  • Must meet company's requirements for employment
  • Valid driver's license, have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
  • Ability to drive vehicles including manual transmission vehicles
  • Professional appearance
  • Demonstrate customer service skills
  • Previous industry knowledge is preferred
  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Experience prior retail or automotive maintenance sales experience preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
