Job Title: Maintenance Technician Trainee

Location: Kansas City, MO

Mar Petcare is looking for a Maintenance Technician Trainee to join our exciting Nutro business at one of our manufacturing plants located in Kansas City, Mo.

The Maintenance Technician Trainee position is designed to give current highly engaged associates an opportunity to develop and create the mechanics of the future. This role may also be suited to external talent that has some technical aptitude and training but not the full resume required for Maintenance Technician.

As a Maintenance Mechanic Trainee, you will have the opportunity to develop mechanical/electrical skills and learn how to maintain manufacturing and packaging equipment.

This is a feeder role for Shift Technicians, System Technicians, and Steam / Boiler Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and troubleshoot processing, filling, packaging, and warehouse systems during factory runtime. Adjust based on evaluations taken during the shift. Inspect equipment for wear, abnormalities, metal fatigue and damage. Write and complete planned and unplanned work orders to correct safety, product and asset issues. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems. Identify potential unsafe conditions and make improvement recommendations. Identify potential food safety risks and make improvement recommendations. Daily involvement with area/equipment AM/PM performance boards. Drive the mindset and methodology to increase "Mean Time Between Failures" (MTBF) and Zero Breakdown culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training:

Must have High School Diploma Associate of Applied Science in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or relative field is desired. TPM, AM, AWT, 5S, Continuous Improvement, Problem Solving experience / training is desired

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Some experience with troubleshooting of processes and mechanical systems consisting of changeovers, process procedures and overall system understanding. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve technical problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to teach others with tools such as one point lessons and leading by example Mechanical machinery aptitude is essential Fundamental electrical understanding Fundamental understanding of industrial controls
