Global Development & Automation Internship (Finance)

Americold Internship Experience (AIE):

The Americold Summer Internship Experience is a 12-week, full time, paid internship that takes place over the summer term in various locations throughout the country. The internship opportunity will afford our interns to better understand of the supply chain industry, work on challenging and industry-specific projects, plus the ability to collaborate with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers.

Areas of Focus:

Automated Distribution Operations

See what keeps the cold chain moving. As an Automated Distribution Operations interns, you'll learn the fundamentals of automated warehouse systems and gain firsthand exposure to how our automated facilities run. From materials handling to warehouse management software and process improvement, you'll work alongside operations leaders to understand the efficiency, precision, and technology that drive Americold's daily distribution success.

Supply Chain

Work alongside senior analysts and managers on projects that optimize supply chain design and transportation. As a Supply Chain intern, you'll gain hands-on experience with data modeling, transportation solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll also contribute to tool development and cross-functional efforts to enhance efficiency across the Americold network.

Design Engineering

Being able to develop customized logistics solutions and warehouse layouts tailored to Americold's customers, based on detailed analyses of their product profiles. You'll determine warehousing requirements through resource modeling, layout and material flow planning, and equipment specification. You'll also supports the design and implementation of new facilities and retrofits, while providing engineering, project management, and analytical support to the Design Engineering department and other related functions as needed.

Systems Integration Engineering

Focusing on optimizing operational efficiency through flow, process, and throughput analysis, as well as investigating faults and system errors to produce downtime and availability reports. You'll conduct Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) research and developing dashboards to visualize performance metrics. Additionally, you'll supports training and education initiatives to help operations teams run facilities effectively, while collaborating with vendors, customers, and internal teams to test and validate systems against vendor specifications.

Global Operations Command Center

You'll contribute to the continuous improvement of people, processes, and technology within Americold's Central Operations Command Center by designing and executing optimization projects focused on enhancing execution applications and site service KPIs. It involves working closely with subject matter experts in the Control Room and visiting automated warehouses to build business knowledge, foster relationships, and identify root causes for improvement. You'll also navigate through enterprise-level software to understand warehouse execution processes and data, engaging collaboratively with teams, and applying analytical and academic skills to develop and justify solutions.

Pre-Construction/Construction

Supporting Americold's construction department by reviewing and developing key aspects of pre-construction and construction processes. You'll analyzing specifications and identifying value engineering opportunities, monitoring construction progress, and developing and reviewing project schedules. It also involves evaluating vendors through cost analysis, preparing and assessing bid packages, and exploring cost-effective building techniques specific to cold storage. Additionally, you'll actively participate in Integrated Design Reviews for new construction projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.

What Experience You Need:

  • Currently a rising sophomore or junior enrolled at an accredited college/ university for an undergraduate in Supply Chain/Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Data Analysis, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field of study.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization including with senior level leaders
  • Detailed oriented, multi-tasking, and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Data mining and analysis
  • Familiarity of database and query knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Strong technical skills: Excel, Python, and Power BI
