Enterprise Records Governance Specialist (Finance)

Job Profile Summary

This role reports into the Head of Data Governance & Management and is responsible for overseeing and managing Northern Trust's requirements and capabilities for record management, both physical and electronic, including complying with legal and global regulatory requirements. This includes ensuring enablement of proper storage, accessibility, and disposition of records in a global environment through IT partnerships.

Job Description

Major Duties :

1. Lead records and retention management strategy, collaborating with business units, corporate functions, technology, legal, and compliance to ensure strategy meets corporate and business goals
2. Collaborate with Enterprise Data Governance partners to update / manage records and retention governing documents
3. Maintain Northern Trust Records Retention Schedule in partnership with Compliance and Legal
4. Oversee the classification retention and disposition of official records

5. Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost working with data /record owners, and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model

6. Provide guidance and training as needed to partners across Northern Trust

Knowledge :

o Understand and be capable of effectively communicating the role of Data and Records Retention to both business and technical communities

o Extensive knowledge of records management principles and practices

o Capable of engaging senior leadership with business, operations, and technology

o Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Possess strong leadership and organizational awareness skills

o Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills

o Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities

o Capable of driving enterprise-wide initiatives for the definition and adoption of records management

Experience :

• A College or University degree and/or records management work experience is required.

• Deep functional records management knowledge

• Strong cross business unit experience leading enterprise initiatives

• Experience with Microsoft Purview preferred

• Experience in financial services a plus

Salary Range:
$95,600 - 162,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
