Director of Advanced Practice (Finance)



The Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) leads the integration of APPs into innovative, patient-centered care models aligned with USF MCOM's strategic goals. This role oversees APP practice across the care continuum, serving as a key resource for recruitment, retention, scope of practice, collaborative care, credentialing, orientation, policy, compliance, billing, and professional development. The Director promotes optimal utilization of APPs while advancing quality care, education, and research.Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.The University of South Florida is a high-impact global research university dedicated to student success.   • Partner with senior leadership to expand and optimize APP roles.
  • Oversee APP evaluation, communication, data management, and workforce planning.
  • Serve on senior administrative and clinical committees.

2. APP Productivity
  • Implement metrics to track APP productivity and outcomes.
  • Advance collaborative care models across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Ensure APPs practice at the top of their license within defined scopes.

3. Recruitment & Retention
  • Lead recruitment strategies with HR.
  • Standardize job classifications, compensation models, and peer review processes.
  • Provide compensation benchmarking.

4. Clinical Outcomes
  • Define metrics to ensure quality care and patient satisfaction.
  • Oversee professional-practice evaluations.

5. Professional Development
  • Develop onboarding, residency/fellowship, and advancement programs.
  • Promote leadership training and continuing education.
  • Build relationships with academic institutions to support student rotations.

6. Competency Evaluation
  • Establish a framework for initial and ongoing APP competency assessment.

7. Research
  • Support APP-led research and evidence-based practice initiatives.

8. Compliance & Policy
  • Ensure compliance with state laws, regulations, and supervision agreements.
  • Engage in policy development at local, state, and national levels.

9. Leadership
  • Promote MD/APP collaboration and serve as a key resource to faculty and administrative leaders.
