JOB SUMMARY

The OVA Community Specialist position is a temporary, part-time position within the Birth Justice Philly/OVA program at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Division of Maternal, Child & Family Health. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the launch of the Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders training and Bridging the Gaps from Data to Action community education sessions. Coordination will include outreach, ongoing communications with points of contact at community-based and healthcare organizations, coordinating facilitator availability and providing administrative support. The OVA Community Specialist will have regular supervision meetings, as well as meetings with community-based organizations and training facilitators.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

                Responsibilities/Duties

  • Serving as primary point of contact for launch of community education programs:
    • “When Joy Feels Heavy:” Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders
    • Bridging the Gaps from Data to Action
    • Early Warning Signs of Post-Birth Complications
  • Assisting with scheduling, speaker coordination and facilitation of community education sessions offered by the OVA
  • Conduct outreach for training availability
  • Track participation and survey responses
  • Manage payment logistics for facilitators
  • Coordinate onboarding for new facilitators
  • Provide live administrative support during trainings
  • Developing & updating communications materials related to community education programs

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Pursuing secondary degree in Public Health or other relevant field preferred

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in perinatal health, health promotion, health education, or other related field
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of organizational skill
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures and diverse audiences

Work Environment:  Standard office setting with extended periods at work station and periodic use of office equipment.

Position Type and Work Schedule:  This is a part-time, temporary position (20 hours per week). Specific working days and hours will be determined upon hire. Working hours for this position should fall within typical work week schedule (Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm). Flex office schedule options available with supervisor approval.

Travel:  Occasional travel to community sites to provide administrative support to trainings. (3-4 meetings throughout the year).

Physical Demands:  Occasionally moves equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
