Material Specialist (Finance)

The Material Specialist coordinates, executes, and supports higher-complexity transactions, projects, duties and special assignments across a broad range of Warehouse Operations functions, including providing work direction and first-level leadership to Material Handlers and other less experienced/leveled warehouse personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates, directs, and performs cycle counting and inventory reconciliation activities
  • Analyzes inventory-related issues and resolves discrepancies to ensure inventory and system accuracy
  • Assesses, verifies, and addresses any issues arising from the production or cycle counting processes
  • Identifies opportunities to improve inventory tracking accuracy and collaborates with staff to implement improvements
  • Monitors workflow using visual indicators, Kanban systems, pending transaction queues, and other tools to ensure adequate resource allocation and adherence to cycle times and process targets
  • Leverages expertise to co-coordinate and execute special projects, including but not limited to: Onboarding quarantined or previously unusable inventory or goods, Warehouse relocations and layout redesigns, Workflow redistribution plans, and Development and deployment of new tools, capabilities, or reports
  • Acts as a facilitator by influencing up, down, and across the organization to remove barriers and enable execution of daily tasks and special initiatives
  • Provides direction, coaching, training, and professional development to less experienced warehouse and materials personnel

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more logistics sub-disciplines, such as shipping, warehouse operations, or inventory control, with a proven track record of skill and competency development.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide first-level work coordination, support team development, facilitate group problem-solving, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster effective and positive relationships with internal teams and external partners across all logistics functions.
  • Proven ability to maintain collaborative and professional working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Skilled at resolving complex or sensitive issues that may involve cross-functional coordination, cost considerations, or supply chain challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present ideas and proposals to a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Forklift certification preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain certification.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 standards, AS9100B/C, and AS9110.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other systems, such as Marshall-Ramco.
