DESCRIPTION 
The Legal Counsel position is the lifeblood and future of the Elekta Legal Department.  The Legal Counsel will be involved in many practice areas within Elekta, with this specific hire being focused on Elekta's Mexican, Central American and South American sales regions. The position provides legal advice and counsel throughout the organization on various matters in support of the overall legal strategy developed by the Elekta's General Counsel and global Legal Management Team.  The Legal Counsel is the Elekta Legal Department's entry-level in-house legal position, but the successful candidate will have a well-rounded legal background prior to joining Elekta and will be ready, with oversight where necessary, to provide sound legal advice and take on a variety of challenges within Elekta.  The Legal Counsel's responsibilities will increase with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES 
•    Primary assignment supporting Elekta's Mexican, Central American and South American sales regions.
•    Works closely with all attorneys in the legal group and be part of a dedicated, productive, high quality, and high energy international legal team
•    Acts at all times with a focus on ethics and integrity
•    Incorporates Elekta Values and quality systems into all department functions and responsibilities
•    Actively participates in the Elekta Legal Department's global forums
•    Responsible for advising assigned clients with regard to any and all other legal issues
•    Reviews, draft and negotiates contracts related to, among other things, hardware sales, software licensing, hardware and software development and professional services
•    Supports the Elekta's management, sales and contracts administration teams and take responsibility for providing legal advice for any and all other legal issues arising within the assigned geography
•    Counsels business partners on a variety of business law issues
•    Drafts and negotiates vendor and licensing arrangements, review of marketing initiatives, responses to litigation, and advising on various legal matters
•    Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by senior management. 
•    Develops and provides training to business clients

RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES 
•    Preference for graduate from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials
•    Member, in good standing, of local bar association (or local equivalent)
•    Preference for at least 3 years relevant legal experience, including experience at a top-tier law firm.
•    Fluency in English and Spanish.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills
•    Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and efficient
•    Strong sense of ethics, integrity, and sound judgement
•    Must have an attitude that no job is too big or too small, must be client/customer focused, and must accept responsibility for and own outcomes
•    Must be able to strike sensible and practical balance between legal risks and the need to do business
•    Adept at working in a fast-paced, high activity environment with smart and creative people
•    Must work well with all functions and at all levels within Elekta
•    Excellent problem-solving skills.  Must be able to find practical solutions and provide practical guidance
•    Must be a team player
•    Ability to efficiently prioritize and handle multiple requests from several internal clients
•    Adept at the use of Microsoft Office products
•    Superb oral and written communication skills
•    First class interpersonal and communication skills. 
•    Broad knowledge of general business, contract, and commercial law.
•    Litigation experience is a plus
•    Knowledge of the Medical Device Industry, including Regulatory knowledge (FDA, MDR, etc.) is a plus
•    Sound and relatively broad knowledge of general business and commercial, contract, and commercial law

•    Work Environment: The noise level and temperature in the work environment is usually moderate.
•    Travel: Must be able to travel, including international travel, up to 10% of the time.
•    Work Location/Flexibility: This position is based out of Elekta's Atlanta office and is a hybrid position (at-least 3 days in office, remaining days from home office).  Preference for more days in office during the first six months for onboarding and networking purposes.
