Primary Purpose:
A Dimensional Engineer ensures the accuracy of dimensional data to optimize tool nominalization, CMM programming, and fixture performance during manufacturing and assembly, while identifying strategies to maximize in-house and outsourced CMM and CNC utilization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understanding customer dimensional requirements.
  • Addressing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) questions.
  • Assisting operations with any inspection questions or clarification
  • Sharing lessons learned on inspection methods and techniques with the engineering team.
  • Trouble shooting fixture issues.
  • Supporting the broader engineering and operations teams with machined and non-machined casting challenges.
  • Contributing CMM programming as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Engineering-related degree (BS) with 0-2 years relevant experience. (8-10 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret customer specifications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft ; CAD experience helpful.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual.
  • Possess a positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Solid job history including more than 1 year at previous or recent employer.
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be willing to participate in pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
  • Must be a US person

Preferred:
  • 2 years of recent Calypso programming experience working on aerospace castings
  • On-the-job experience using CMMs, scanners, fixtures, hand tools for casting inspection.

Working Conditions:
  • Frequently working near moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise and chemicals; such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • The work is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions

Schedule:
  • Salaried position
  • Day shift - Monday-Friday (5x8).
  • Flexibility to support a variety of shifts is expected; may include weekends.
