SCADA Systems Engineer I (Finance)



POSSITION SUMMARY:

The SCADA Systems Engineer I is an entry-level role responsible for assisting in the development, administration, and support of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, with an emphasis on platform and systems management. This role supports system design and maintenance activities for HVAC, environmental control, central plant operations, utility infrastructure, security, and access control. Under guidance, the Engineer I performs routine system tasks, supports stakeholders with basic requests, and gains exposure to vendor coordination and troubleshooting. The position builds foundational knowledge of SCADA platforms while contributing to the reliability and efficiency of operations.

  • Shift Hours: 8AM - 5PM
  • Location: Onsite - Tampa Campus

  • Assist in the design, develop, and maintain SCADA systems and their associated platforms, using appropriate system languages and tools. This includes development of human machine interfaces, data storage, and integrations to ensure proper operations of the university's HVAC, environmental control, central plant, utility infrastructure, etc. Monitor system performance and escalate issues to senior staff. Follow established procedures for testing and documentation
  • Provide technical support for SCADA systems under supervision. Resolve basic software, interface, and hardware issues with guidance. Document troubleshooting steps and escalate complex problems to senior staff. Participate in workload planning discussions but does not yet forecast independently.
  • Assist senior engineers in reviewing vendor-provided documentation and designs. Read and interpret SCADA system diagrams and update simple design documents. Escalate discrepancies or issues to senior staff for resolution. Limited direct interaction with vendors.
  • Respond to routine client and stakeholder requests with guidance from senior staff. Perform basic troubleshooting of graphical operator workstations (GOWs) and human machine interfaces (HMIs). Escalate complex SCADA platform or communication infrastructure issues to higher-level engineers. Develop familiarity with support processes and documentation standards. Document recurring issues.
  • Assist with installing and configuring SCADA servers, software, and hardware under supervision. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as patching, backups, and account management. Follow documented procedures for basic system monitoring and troubleshooting. Escalate issues beyond scope to senior staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
