LPN, Pre-Admissions Testing (Healthcare)



The Pre Admissions Testing LPN is responsible for ensuring that all necessary pre-operative assessments, documentation, and patient education are completed prior to the patient's scheduled surgery. This role serves as a critical liaison between patients, physicians, specialty clinics and the surgical care team to promote a safe and smooth surgical experience.
This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee to maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews surgical schedules and initiates the pre-admission process for all upcoming procedures.
Conducts patient interviews via phone to obtain medical history, medications, allergies, and other pertinent information.
Coordinates and verifies required diagnostic testing (labs, EKGs, ECHO, Cardiac records, imaging) and ensure timely receipt of results.
Communicate with physicians, anesthesiologists, specialty clinics and surgical staff to clarify patient status and readiness.
Ensures all pre-op documentation is complete and filed in the patient's chart.
Identifies and addresses any potential medical issues that could delay or prevent surgery.
Provides patients with pre-operative instructions and answers any questions related to preparation or logistics.
Maintains accurate records and ensures compliance with HIPAA and facility policies.
Performs other duties, as assigned.


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and REGISTRATION:

High school graduate or GED.
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
Current LPN License issued by the Arkansas Board of Nursing.
Current practical nurse licensure in Arkansas.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

One (1) year clinical background (medical office, surgical center, or hospital setting) strongly preferred.
Experience with pre-operative assessment or perioperative services, preferred.
Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills.
Time management and organizational skills.
Attention to detail skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists within the scope of practice.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or scheduled form.


INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies frequently, while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
