Tier 3 Network Administrator (Information Technology)



The Tier 3 Network Administrator plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining the health care organizations enterprise network infrastructure. This senior-level position provides expert-level troubleshooting, network design and configuration, and serves as the final escalation point for network-related issues. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled networking professional with experience in healthcare IT environments and a deep understanding of HIPAA compliance, cybersecurity, and high-availability networks.

Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the highest level of internal network support; resolve complex network issues escalated from Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff.Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless networks, VPNs, firewalls, and data center networking components.Ensure the network is secure, stable, scalable, and compliant with HIPAA and other relevant regulatory standards.Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement best practices, monitoring tools, and intrusion prevention systems.Manage and monitor network performance using enterprise tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Cisco Prime).Maintain accurate documentation of network topologies, configurations, and change control processes.Participate in infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, new facility deployments, and cloud connectivity.Perform advanced troubleshooting of connectivity issues, latency, and packet loss.Configure and manage routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and layer 3 switches.Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT staff, providing training and escalation support.Assist with business continuity and disaster recovery planning and execution.Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours network incidents as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of progressive experience in network administration, with at least 2 years in a Tier 3 or senior-level role.Strong experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, or similar enterprise-class networking hardware.Deep knowledge of networking protocols, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching, and wireless networking.Proficiency in network security practices, firewall configuration, and VPN technologies.Experience in healthcare IT environments, with understanding of HIPAA and HITECH compliance.Certifications preferred: CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Palo Alto PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid network environments.Knowledge of VoIP and unified communications systems.Familiarity with monitoring and automation tools (Ansible, NetFlow, SNMP, Syslog).Previous experience supporting networks in skilled nursing, home health, or acute care facilities.
