Accounts Payable Intern (Administrative)



Lynden Incorporated is seeking an Intern to work in our AP department as part of our SeaTac based team.  Join Lynden Incorporated for a fun learning experience. This is a paid internship; you will generally work 40 hours per week for a period of 10-12 weeks during the summer. This position is non safety sensitive. Our internship program offers you opportunities to network and learn through:

  • Participating in tours at the different Lynden Operating Companies.
  • Informational lunches with Lynden executives including Operations, Marketing, HR, Legal, Finance and Company Presidents.
  • Assisting with organizing the Lynden summer barbeque and other employee events.
  • Intern team building activities.
  • Group and team-related projects include presenting to our group of executives.

Lynden is a family-owned transportation and logistics company that allows our customers to balance speed and budget by shipping via air, land, or sea. As a corporate office with about 200 employees, we support 20 sister companies with over 2,500 employees.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Process high volume of accounts payable invoices, including invoices matching purchase orders (3-way match)
  • Learn the chart of accounts as it relates to AP and enter general ledger coding for non-purchase order invoices
  • Validate data captured during the Optical Character Recognition process and modify the data if required
  • Provide quality customer service in resolving supplier issues, invoice discrepancies, statement reconciliations, and other supplier requests
  • Sort, prepare, batch, and scan invoices
  • Communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with suppliers, operations, team, and management
  • Work closely with other departments including purchasing and treasury to resolve questions and issues

 

What we need from you:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate accounting or finance program and have at least one year of college with some course work in accounting, business, or finance. 
  • Must have strong Excel skills and be familiar with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Tableau experience is appreciated.
