(Sr./Lead) Quantitative Analyst I (II) (Finance)



*Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid*

The (Sr./Lead) Quantitative Analyst I (II) provides technical and power market quantitative analysis support to Trade Risk and Analytics. This will involve creating consistent transmission system and market scenarios using power flow modeling for areas of the PJM Interconnection and performing required transmission analysis and preparing deductive summary reports of cause and financial impacts, assessments and conclusions . This position interacts closely with all departments within Risk Management and various departments across PJM's Markets and Operations divisions.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain accurate electric system models for PJM.

  • Perform power system market simulations in support of modeling efforts.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the business functions and processes and implement solutions based on that understanding.

  • Compile, prepare and analyze various statistical/analytical data, reports statements, studies or projects.

  • Perform quantitative financial analysis on market participant portfolios

  • Perform fundamental and statistical analysis of PJM's market functions.

  • Interact regularly with leadership and cross functional teams to understand strategic changes.

  • Perform data mining functions.

  • Technical Skills: Production Cost Simulation software skills, statistical software skills.

  • Produce Risk Reports and provide analytical insights and cause-and-effects impacts.

Characteristics & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or equivalent work experience

  • At least 8 years of experience industry experience in power system modeling

  • At least 5 years of experience Experience in financial engineering in energy industry

  • At least 5 years of experience with Dayzer power system modeling an advantage

  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail

  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory

  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or a PhD., Engineering

  • At least 8 years of experience with PJM markets including FTRs, ARRs, Virtual Bids and RPM

  • At least 8 years of experience with programming in SQL, SAS, C++, Python or Alteryx

  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions

  • Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
