Maintenance Manager (Maintenance)
Essential Job Functions
Oversee and lead the Maintenance Department, coordinating and integrating all activities toward the achievement of established goals and objectives including developing and implementing department policies and proceduresLead and prioritize department staff scheduling, work activities, decision-making, personnel matters, and policy communicationDevelop and manage a proactive maintenance program focused on planning, scheduling, and preventive/predictive maintenanceMonitor inventory of spare parts, supplies, and equipment; reorder as needed and prepare capital requests to support production goalsMaintain regular communication with department staff to address maintenance issues and prioritize tasks based on urgencyCoordinate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations and develop strong interdepartmental communicationEnsure staff are properly trained, equipped, and motivated to perform maintenance safely, efficiently, and cost-effectivelyTrack and analyze key maintenance metrics (e.g., asset utilization, downtime, costs, schedule compliance) and present findings clearlyOversee and enforce departmental safety programs; review safety records and implement proactive safety measuresSupport plant layout planning, facility rearrangement, and implementation of Lean, 6S, and Kaizen initiativesPerform other related duties and special projects as assignedAdheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including nights and weekendsPerforms other work as directed and required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systemsKnowledge of maintenance strategies and technologiesKnowledge of OSHA standards, environmental compliance, and industrial safety protocolsKnowledge of the metal fabrication process and production methodsKnowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and KaizenKnowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), paint systems, roll mills, sheet metal forming processes, and spot weldersSkill in maintenance budgeting, capital planning, and cost analysisSkill in advising and training othersSkill in use of computer hardware and software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet programsSkill in interpreting blueprints, work orders, and technical documentationSkill in data analysis and reporting for production and quality metricSkill in using CMMS software, PLCs, and diagnostic toolsAbility to handle urgent repairs while maintaining long-term maintenance schedulesAbility to Maintain composure and effectiveness in high-stress, fast-paced environmentsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customersAbility to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns
