Research Technician (Finance)



The Research Technician will perform technical laboratory duties and related data analysis in support of ongoing research projects. The position may also involve learning sophisticated techniques and skillsets as required for the projects and contributing to maintaining equipment and training new lab members. Ancillary responsibilities may include assisting with ordering, inventory management, and general organization of the laboratory space. A successful candidate is expected to work well in a collegial environment and interact regularly with other lab members. Motivated candidates may be allowed to lead independent projects and contribute scientific writing.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3+ years of laboratory or research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in biological sciences.
  • 5+ years of wet-lab research experience.
  • Experience with handling animals, particularly rodent colony breeding and management, and survival surgery,
  • Leadership or personnel management experience

  • Maintains rat colony and coordinates breeding and weaning.
  • Assists with surgery, monitors post-operative rats, helps with metabolic caging collections.
  • Helps train new lab members.
  • Assists with ordering and equipment maintenance.
  • Performs standard techniques including cell culture, PCR, Western blotting, ELISAs
  • Collects and analyzes data
  • Maintains excellent laboratory notebook and data storage.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and statistical analysis/graphing software
