Summary:

The Granulation Site Manager coordinates and supervises site operations to ensure an adequate amount of material from the site is available to meet production needs. The Granulation Site Manager will be responsible for the coordination and cooperation with key departmental staff to ensure seamless integration and operation of the granulators with the site blast furnaces. This position makes decisions regarding Site safety, operations, logistics and maintenance and analyzing unusual problems and situations. The position exercises direct or indirect supervision over all site employees and provides oversight of capital expenditures for the site and involvement in the preparation and control of the site budget.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Establishes, communicates, and assigns job responsibilities, goals, and performance standards for contracted employees within the Granulation Facility.
  • Performs surveillance of Granulation Facility maintenance and operations by conducting inspections
  • Conducts and participates in department safety meetings and safety inspection of work areas and performs periodic spot checks. Ensures site personnel comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Oversee all aspects of the maintenance requirements on site.
  • Monitor production needs to ensure enough material is available and ready for use in manufacturing. Promotes job performance through motivation, establishing goals, and providing feedback.
  • Maintains specified records of production activities. Promote job performance through motivation, establishing goals, providing feedback obtaining, coordinating, and supervising the work of contractors as required for specified repairs.
  • Prepares reports and other specified paperwork as requested by management. Meets with vendors regarding new maintenance equipment and other supplies needed for executing maintenance responsibilities.
  • Supports and participates in facility safety and environmental programs. Inspects work sites to make sure proper cleanup procedures have been executed. Is an active participant and leader in the Maintenance Excellence Process
  • Cooperates with other department managers in coordinating production operations with the Cleveland Cliffs operations to facilitate the granulation of molten slag
  • Assists with the preparation of annual budgets and specifications on purchased equipment. Coordinates purchased material with plant needs. Works with Planner to review, plan schedule and supervise all maintenance repair and preventive/predictive maintenance activities for the site. Investigates and resolve unusual problems or difficulties in maintenance projects.
  • Maintains awareness of current industry trends and practices by reading trade and industry magazines. Specifies engineering data and solicits competitive pricing on the purchase of major equipment and parts.
  • Works with Planner to compile records and data regarding maintenance projects and prepares reports for management
  • Ensures that maintenance personnel complies with plant and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Conducts monthly safety meetings and trains employees on safety regulations and standards. Evaluates safety hazards on a proactive basis and investigate accidents.
  • Collaborates with the GLS Board to discuss goals, strategic planning, etc., and ensures that these directives are achieved.
  • Reviews and approves all invoices as directed by GLS Board
  • Recommends improvements and other types of suggestions to improve productivity, employee morale, etc. Review maintenance reports analyzing trends. Assists GLS Board in preparing annual budgets for company executives.
  • Evaluates performance and recommend merit increases and promotions. Recommends improvements and other types of suggestions to improve productivity, employee morale, etc.
  • Coordinate and manage the State of Ohio monthly Environmental reporting and initial stack tests
  • Monitor the performance of Sub Contractor Material Handlers on site
  • Coordinate the granule shipping schedules of the shareholders with the GLS Board and Cleveland Cliffs
  • Manage the Monthly meeting and reporting to GLS Management
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum 4 Year - Bachelor's Degree in engineering
  • Graduate Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management of aggregate processing or steel mill operation.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Principals an Asset
  • Granulation Management Experience an asset
  • Industrial Health and Safey practices and legislation
  • Up to 10% domestic travel
