The Integrated Design and Advisory business vertical is one of the business verticals at Michael Baker International with more than 850 professionals located across the country. JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an enthusiastic, articulate, and motivated Architecture and Engineering (A&E) Project Manager II to lead and coordinate interdisciplinary projects, within federal, public and commercial sectors, while also supporting a diverse range of clients and project types. This role is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, and budget throughout the entire lifecycle-from conceptual planning through design and construction administration.

The candidate will be a licensed Architect or Engineer who demonstrates successful experience with federal, public and commercial clients delivering A/E projects, including management of geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams comprised of architects, interiors designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers.

The ideal candidate will bring experience managing projects across all phases, along with a strong understanding of building systems design and engineering. A demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, manage competing priorities, and deliver technically sound, constructible solutions is essential.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include overseeing project staffing, monitoring performance metrics, and proactively addressing scope, schedule, or quality concerns to ensure successful delivery. As the primary client interface, the Project Manager will also collaborate closely with contractor partners on design-build efforts. Articulate, concise, and consistent communication is essential for collaborating with leadership and project resources to outline workplan, responsibilities, quality management, risk assessment, and scope of authority, all the while ensuring that project milestones and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed scope, schedule, and budget parameters, clearly documenting, and communicating project progress to team and leadership.

  • Manage client relationships with efficiency and professionalism, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle
  • Deliver compelling verbal and visual presentations to effectively communicate design intent and project updates
  • Drive business development efforts as a proactive doer-seller, identifying opportunities and building client trust
  • Lead project staffing and coordination to maintain progress within defined schedules and budgets
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across project teams, clients, vendors, and contractors through written, verbal, and graphic channels
  • Develop fee proposals
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multi-disciplinary staff to ensure project progression per schedule, on budget, and within scope parameters.
  • Travel occasionally to support project needs and client engagements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess proficient experience and understanding of interdisciplinary relationships between technical resources, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Build rapport and establish positive relationships with existing and prospective clients to ensure client-focused performance.
  • U.S. Federal experience (USACE, Navy, Air Force or other Federal Agencies) desired.
  • Specific experience with Design/Build alternate project delivery methods is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) [Autodesk Revit Architecture/AutoCAD] software and application project implementation.
  • Familiarity and experience with technical specifications software, including SpecsIntact, MasterSpec, etc., as well as Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and building codes.
  • Possess excellent computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Adobe, and Bluebeam.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a Building Engineering discipline (e.g., Structural, Mechanical, Civil, Fire Protection, or Electrical Engineering)
  • Licensed Architect (RA/AIA) or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 10-15 years of experience in the coordination and management of Federal and/or Public Sector/Private projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials preferred.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP), or equivalent, preferred.
  • Travel (25%+/-) is anticipated based on project responsibilities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $115,000-$160,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.

The Architecture and Engineering (A&E) Project Manager will lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on federal projects but will include a broad range of customer and project types.
