Senior Market Access Director (Finance)



Description:

The Senior Director of Market Access Strategy is responsible for the development and execution of the value and market access strategy and strategic positioning that will enable Amneal's portfolio of Specialty and Biosciences products to secure profitable formulary access across all commercial and government channels in the US payer landscape. The Senior Director will be responsible for the go-to-market commercialization strategy for the forward-looking portfolio of biosimilar & 505B2 product pipeline with the top PBMs/Payers regarding formulary access strategy and/or securing large-scale private label opportunities. Additionally, this position is responsible for creating improved and profitable formulary access go-to-market strategies and executional plans across both medical and pharmacy benefits, as well as unique business segments such as specialty and retail pharmacy and state Medicaid organizationsThe Sr. Director is a cross-functional leadership role that is highly matrixed with key leaders across the US organization of Amneal to develop market access and trade strategies and will partner across multiple functional areas including the Brand Team, Finance, Field Sales, Business Operations and Legal/Compliance. The Director will partner with the National Director Leaders, Trade Team, Brand Leaders and Pricing Organization to develop market access strategy and executional plans that secure access for the Amneal portfolio of Specialty and Biosciences products with the major national Pharmacy Benefit Managers and Health Plans in the US market, along with key government, trade and federal markets customers. The Sr, Director of Market Access Strategy is a key member of Amneal's Market Access, Trade and Patient Servies Team reporting to the Department Vice President.

Essential Functions:

  • Market Access Strategy & Value Positioning: Develop and execute best in class value and access strategies for profitable product positioning, across targeted Medical and Pharmacy benefit formularies, across all lines of business (Commercial, Medicare, & Managed Medicaid), as well as monitoring and supporting access across these designated channels. Leverage a multi-matrix relationship building and selling approach to drive long-standing relationships within assigned accounts with key stakeholder segments such as Pharmacy Directors, Chief Medical Officers, & Clinical Pharmacists to influence decision making that creates formulary access and approval. Conduct additional managed care marketing and trade focused activities to support broad distribution and pull through across all wholesale, specialty and provider group channels for the Specialty and Biosciences business units. Expand Amneal's Specialty & Biosciences portfolio access and utilization across all assigned accounts by leveraging deep experience and knowledge within the brand category (i.e. Migraine, Parkinson's & Biosimilars), the marketplace, competitors and industry knowledge to effectively manage business opportunities and challenges. Work cross functionally with national account and trade directors to identify opportunities for broader strategic collaboration within assigned accounts for key functional areas of Amneal that expands business relationships for MSL/Brand Team/Executive leadership. Collaborate across market access teams for the development of access plans for all in-line, launch and pipeline assets inclusive of payer landscape assessment, reimbursement and pricing strategy, organized customer contracting, channel and distribution strategy and value proposition development. Lead the brand planning and launch execution activities across US specialty and biosciences. Develop Brand and Trade specific access resources and act as a liasons with core functional brand and sales teams to ensure coordinated pull through activities that are aligned with Brand objectives.
  • Expertise of Value and Access Strategic Positioning and Execution: Run complex data analytics and financial analyses for existing and proposed customer access proposals to support launch based an in-line assets. Understand the financial modeling in partnership with the Pricing, Forecasting & Contracting Department. Develop clinical value propositions and coordination of customer P&T and value proposition meetings with account teams and MSLs to support market development efforts in advance of contract negotiations. Build key access strategies to gain Specialty & Bioscience Brand portfolio formulary adoption and appropriate placement and positioning in assigned accounts through clinical and financial material presentations that drive timely and profitable access for our products. Work within multiple data and purchasing platforms: Stotle, Komodo, DRG, Pathway Analysis, Customer portals (CVS, ESI, Optum), and Quantuvis, Nuvella, Cordavis, Quallent.
  • Pull Through & Field Sales Market Access Leadership: Successfully create, implement, and measure PRC approved formal tactics for field sales pull-through based on formulary access within assigned accounts for enhanced sales. Create best in class pull through strategies for all actively promoted specialty & bioscience brands. Help develop tools, training and reporting relative to field sales pull-through initiatives (includes New Sales Training or IST, on-going training or MC101 and tools training), all of which increase utilization of specialty and bioscience products. Identify and execute against opportunities to educate, train and develop Amneal field sales team on payer landscape (Monthly/quarterly RBM team calls, POA, Fast Starts, NSM, etc). The Director may be asked to represent Market Access team on special projects relative to product launches, marketing, brand, operations and/or IT issues. Engage HQ sales leadership, brand team, training, marketing and sales operations to ensure optimal decisions and solutions include Market Access considerations.
  • Additional Sr. Director Responsibilities: Lead the development of the payer value story which is supported by HEOR data and quality of life messaging that support core bran positions. Develop and maintain industry contacts with our business analytics, such as call reporting measurements. Remain abreast of competitors and horizon scanning market based activities. Attend industry conferences such as: PCMA, AMCP (including local Chapters), NAMCP, EMPAA/AMPAA/WAMPAA, Asembia, health plan associations, ESI Summit, Prime Insights, etc. Understand specific laws and proposed legislation relative to our current Market Access landscape (i.e. IRA and its impact on Amneal products for Medicare Part D). Manage to a market access budget throughout the year, as assigned by the Sr Director, Market Access. The Director must adhere to Amneal's code of conduct and all required business and regulatory compliance standards for on all business-related functions and customer interactions.

 

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) Business or a relevant field - Required
  • Master Degree (MBA) - Preferred

Experience:

  • 12 years or more in Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience to include Market access/trade/sales management and/or managed care account experience
  • 10 years or more in Managed Care Value & Access Marketing experience for Pharmaceutical or Biotech sales management or managed markets
  • 5 years or more in Successful commercialization and launch of new products
  • 5 years or more in Regional, National or Large (IDS', Group Practice's) Account Management experience along with Value & Access
  • 5 years or more in Reimbursement experience and understanding
  • 5 years or more in Relationships with key regional and national payers
  • 5 years or more in Neurology experience

Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word and Excel - Advanced
  • Niche / orphan drug / specialty experience - Advanced
  • Ability to understand complex data and use that data to develop a strategy - Advanced
  • Demonstrated decision making, critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills - Advanced

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Must have detailed knowledge base of the evolving sophisticated marketplace and multi-matrixed relationships between manufacturers and PBMs which align purchasing, contracting and formulary management
  • Must have business relationships with executive level PBM, Payer & Purchasing Group organizations to lead the successful commercialization and negotiation efforts
  • Must have the requisite understanding of the evolving specialty pharmacy marketplace in order to develop the go to market commercialization strategy for the near-term specialty priority pipeline agents that will leverage the SP channel as its primary source of distribution
  • Must have business relationships with executive level specialty pharmacy/distribution organizations to lead the successful commercialization and negotiation efforts
  • Maintains strong business acumen and expertise in contracting strategy with customers, as well as, clinical value positioning, strategic account planning which results in: payer formulary wins, product adoption/positioning by payers, and patient affordability
