Job Summary:
The Research Billing Analyst is responsible for daily review of research patient billing and preparing invoices. This position involves working closely with the research department, accounting, business office, pharmaceutical companies, and other local healthcare entities. This position will adhere to FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, Highlands Oncology policies and procedures, and sponsor requirements.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Daily review of charges for research patients in OncoEMR to ensure procedures are billed appropriately.Reads clinical trial budgets and protocols to determine if charges should be billed to study sponsor vs. third party payor. Invoice sponsors for pass through costs included in clinical trial contracts. This will require the use of the departments Clinical Trial Management System (Velos), QuickBooks, and third-party vendor portals.Works closely with internal business office on queries regarding clinical trial covered procedures, charge review, coding and research related patient billing errors.Works with billing departments of local entities to ensure compliant billing practices for our clinical trial patients.Works with the Highlands Oncology accountant to ensure patient reimbursements and department expenses are paid. Some patient interaction may be required to discuss billing matters.Maintains department financial spreadsheets and metrics.Cross train and provide back-up as needed for other research business staff.Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and responsiveness when interacting with internal staff, vendors, and patients.Advises supervisor of problems or concerns.Collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments.Communicates routinely with director/manager/supervisor/liaison regarding program status and/or issues.Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.Attends required research department meetings/activities.Maintains patient/sponsor confidentiality.Promptly reports to work at designated times.Supports and adheres to organizational decisions, policies, and procedures.Willingly accepts assignments and completes them in a timely manner.Maintains organized files and office space.Effectively sets priorities.Demonstrates flexibility in schedule to accommodate workload.Submits routine reports on or before due date.
