JOB SUMMARY

The General Winery Worker is responsible for supporting safe and efficient wine production operations. This cellar operations role involves operating cellar equipment, performing wine and juice movements, wine ingredient additions, oak additions and removals, general sanitation and facility hygiene tasks and accurate and timely completion of work order and production documentation. The Harvest Winery Worker ensures compliance with safety protocols, maintains cleanliness, and contributes to a productive work environment both indoors and outdoors. This role is a fantastic opportunity to learn basic winery harvest operations and to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in wine production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member's safety.
  • Follow Safety STOP procedure for any conditions that are identified as unsafe for employees or product.
  • Follow proper procedures as written/trained to ensure safe quality wine production.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and maintain good housekeeping practices throughout all cellar operations.
  • Perform wine and juice movements by following proper setup and validation processes.
  • Operate cellar equipment including but not limited to; pumps, hoists, grape receiving and sanitation.
  • Complete all required production documentation accurately, legibly and in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be available to work various shifts and overtime as needed (including evenings and weekends) from August through November. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to communicate in a positive, production and professional manner.
  • Production experience in cellar, operations, process or related. 
  • Must be able to operate production equipment as trained.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must be able to work as a part of a team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to frequently move, transport and position objects weighing up to 55 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Must be able to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, climbing, standing, and twisting in an production environment.
  • Must be able to work while wearing a particulate respirator (N95 mask) when handling ingredients.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in and around outdoor elements such as precipitation, wind, low/high temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
    Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs and ladders at heights of 40' and higher.
  • Move safely over uneven and/or wet terrain.
  • Work in Confined Space Areas (Tanks, Presses, Pits, etc.).
  • Exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
  • Work near moving, mechanical parts and forklift traffic.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Pay Rate Posted: $20.00/hr. (New) & $20.50/hr. (Returning)
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
