We seek a professional communications leader and consultative business partner passionate about integrated communication strategies, motivated and energized by change, and who builds connections easily in large global operating environments. This role will provide communications leadership to both the Global Technology & Innovation function and the IT function at Medtronic. Time will be split between these two groups. Both organizations require internal and external communications support.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Functional Communications, this communications leader will be responsible for the development and delivery of an internal and external communications strategy to support a high two dynamic global functions.

The ideal candidate will have deep domain expertise in organizational communications and a proven track record of using communications to educate, engage and inspire employee audiences. They will also have experience using internal and external communications to advance business strategy and curate thought leadership.

This role requires a proactive, forward-thinking approach and the ability to assess and prioritize communications opportunities, counsel business partners, and engage stakeholders in bold new ways. The role combines both strategy development and execution with a demonstrated ability to establish clear objectives and create content that generates meaningful outcomes.

This role supports US time zones and is intended to be a n in-person position with key stakeholders and partners in Minneapolis, MN.

Travel required for this role is expected to be less than 10 percent .

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as a strategic communications leader for both the Global Technology & Innovation function and the Global IT function at Medtronic

  • Manage a small team , providing leadership in goals/objectives, performance reviews, and mentorship.

  • Develop and deliver internal and external communications plans, messages, and tactics that achieve business outcomes

  • Effectively counsel business partners - including executives - and develop and maintain effective relationships across all levels of management and employees

  • Provide both strategy development and flawless execution

  • Leverage deep domain expertise in organizational communications to engage and inspire the employee audience

  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications efforts and inform improvements/adjustments to future initiatives

  • Effectively manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and excel under pressure

  • Travel up to 10 percent of the time

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • M inimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience (people, program or project), or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial (people, program or project) experience.

Nice to Have

  • Excellent writing, editing, and creative skills.

  • Ability to effectively counsel business partners, manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and excel under pressure.

  • Experience with or working knowledge of programs and applications such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint , Teams and various desktop publishing

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization

  • Creative problem-solving skills and solid business acumen to connect communication strategies to business objectives .

  • Willingness to learn and implement the Medtronic brand voice in communications

  • Accuracy, accountability, and strong organizational skills are essential to a successful performance

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$174,400.00 - $261,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
