Job Title: Data Integration Specialist

Location: Remote

Reports To: Director of Geospatial and Data Acquisition

Position Overview

We are seeking a Data Integration Specialist to support our water and wastewater utility operations by managing, integrating, and optimizing geospatial (GIS), asset management (CMMS/EAMS), and operational data systems. This role is critical to ensuring that utility data is accurate, accessible, and actionable for operational decision-making.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with at least one of the following: GIS, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/EAMS), or database management. A formal education requirement is not necessary — what matters is the ability to work with data, solve problems, and support operational teams in improving workflows and reporting. This position requires a minimum of 25% travel to project sites for field data capture, system implementation, and staff support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, update, and integrate GIS datasets related to water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment facilities, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Administer and optimize CMMS/EAMS platforms to support asset tracking, preventive maintenance scheduling, and work order management.
  • Develop and maintain database queries, reports, and dashboards for operational and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, standardization, and consistency across all systems.
  • Work closely with operations teams to capture field data, verify asset locations, and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Support cross-platform data integration between GIS, CMMS/EAMS, SCADA, and reporting tools.
  • Assist in developing data-driven solutions to improve asset lifecycle management and regulatory compliance.
  • Travel to project sites to provide in-person training, data collection, and implementation support (minimum 25% of time).

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) in a utility or municipal environment.
  • Knowledge of CMMS/EAMS platforms (e.g., NexGen, Cityworks, Cartegraph, Maintenance Connection).
  • Basic to intermediate database management and reporting skills (SQL, Access, Excel, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater utility systems, infrastructure, and operations.
  • Ability to collect and verify field data using mobile applications or GPS-enabled devices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with field staff, engineers, and management teams.
