Senior Development Associate

Are you a seasoned multifamily development professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? Do you enjoy managing complex projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and seeing your work come to life in real communities? As a Senior Development Associate, you'll lead multifamily housing developments through every stage of the process, from site selection to lease-up.  The Senior Development Associate will play a key role in managing all aspects of the development process for both market-rate luxury multifamily projects and affordable housing projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and securing new development opportunities across both market-rate and affordable housing sectors.

  • Manage and coordinate due diligence, site analysis, underwriting, and financial modeling for prospective projects.

  • Oversee the project team to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define project goals and strategies.

  • Track and respond to RFPs/RFQs/RFIs as needed by the development team and leadership.

  • Work with internal design and pre-construction teams to ensure projects align with redevelopment agreements, municipal requirements, and local ordinances.

  • Ensure projects deliver on commitments to the community, local agencies, and project partners.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring the project is delivered within financial targets.

  • Track financing progress, including maintaining investor database and conducting financial analysis, including cost estimation, risk assessments, and securing financing.

  • Manage contract compliance with municipal and/or project partners.

  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure compliance with zoning laws, environmental regulations, building codes, and development agreements.

  • Maintain working knowledge of housing finance agency funding, reporting, and compliance requirements, including Qualified Allocation Plans (QAPs) for LIHTC projects.

  • Attend and actively participate in OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor) meetings, documenting notes and action items.

  • Monitor construction progress and ensure contract compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budgets.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a related field.

  • You have 3+ years of experience in real estate development, project management, or construction management, preferably with both market-rate and affordable housing projects.

  • You possess a strong understanding of development processes, including site selection, financial modeling, design, construction, and project delivery.

  • You're a strategic thinker and problem-solver who thrives on collaboration.

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across departments and with external stakeholders.

  • You're proficient in financial modeling, underwriting, and development analysis tools.

  • You have strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • You have experience in managing project budgets and timelines.

  • You have the ability to work independently as a self-starter and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • You're proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
