Field Technician II – Entry Start Up (Finance)
Provide on-site testing, commissioning and customer/operator training for EPG Sales projects including coordination & execution of equipment start-up, acceptance testing, and final project closeout. Provide technical assistance to the prime product sales staff and the product support staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
EDUCATION:
The candidate must be a high school graduate with 5 years of relevant work experience. A Technical College graduate in diesel or electrical technology MAY offset the work experiences below by 2 years.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
External Candidates :
The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years direct experience with generator packages, switchgear, and Automatic Transfer Switches.
Internal Candidates :
Must be a "top level" GPEC EPG Field Technician II performer for at least 3 years.
Candidates should be well versed in the electrical and mechanical aspects of power generation. Candidates must have knowledge of Generator and Utility Paralleling, PLC's, Electronic Engine Governors, Remote Monitoring Systems, Industrial Controls, and other Power Distribution equipment. The candidate should also have experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gas engine failures.
Additionally, candidates should be proficient with various types of electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Voltage Meters, Phasing Indication Meters, Harmonic Distortion Meters, and Load Banks (resistive/reactive). Experience with Caterpillar Electronic Technician Software is a plus. Candidates must be able to understand electronic diagrams and schematics.
PHYSICAL:
Must be able to periodically lift and handle in a safe manner items that weigh up to 75 pounds.

PREFERRED PREREQUSITES FOR POSITION:
Candidates must have experience in the following areas:
Diesel Engine Lubrication, Cooling, and Fuel Systems
Low and Medium Voltage System Applications
LP and Natural Gas Engine Fuel Systems, Including Electronic Controls and Regulators
Generator Monitoring and other Associated Remote Controls and Instrumentation
Engine and Generator Controls, Including On-Board Paralleling Controls.
Voltage Regulation and Control
Battery Charging Systems, Including Best Battery Selection Systems
Test Instrumentation and other Associated Electrical Devices
Load Bank Setup and Operation
Automatic Transfer Switch Operation
