EHS Manager (Finance)



Position Summary: Establishes and promotes a safe work environment, free from recognized hazards in an effort to minimize occupational injuries and illnesses. Also, ensures safety and environmental compliance with local, state, and federal regulations using best management practices. Position Requirements: Analysis of potential occupational hazards that may lead to work illness and/or injuries, develop plans to minimize these hazards, and execute accordingly. Responsible for the effective and proactive management of all Worker's Compensation activities for SSI Technologies. Develop, train, and track all safety related communications, programs, policies, reports, and metrics that are compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on a corporate level. Performs inspections to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures. Ensures corrective actions are implemented and verified. Manages the Hazardous Materials Program, Emergency Response Programs, and Evacuation Programs on a corporate scale. Manages the internal Accident Investigation Program for all departments/divisions. Leads audits specific to Environmental Health and Safety. Manages environmental compliance including air, water, and chemical for the company. Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT records and compliance). Facilitates divisional Safety Committee Meetings, Safety Steering Committee, Ergonomics Teams, and actively attends divisional leadership meetings to report out on safety related topics and metrics. Responsible for the administration of regular Safety Talks for all SSI locations. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, Inc. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) with an emphasis on Safety, and minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience, required. Active OSHA 30 HR certificate, First Responder/CPR certificate, required. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, required. Proficient in Microsoft Office, preferred. Other Qualifications: A good business person, with a solid grasp of finance and operations. Data driven mindset in identifying and prioritizing opportunities and issues. Energetic and self-driven professional, with a high degree of customer focus. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both internally and externally. Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking ability, and problem-solving capacity. Good team player with an ability to operate in a cross functional organization. Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize, and multi-task. Demonstrates comfort level in interacting with all levels of the organization. Ability to troubleshoot issues, find root causes, and initiate corrective actions. High degree of integrity and ability to handle confidential information. Proven success in the training of small and large groups. Strong comfort level and passion for being very visible and hands-on.
