SET THE COURSE

The Manager of Product Development and Sourcing, is responsible for partnering with Tommy Bahama Design, Technical Design, Materials, Production, Merchants, and Vendors to develop product and improve cross functional productivity, execute strategies and drive decisions regarding cost, margin, allocation, fabric positioning, inventory and quality for their respective areas.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Product Development

  • Build sourcing/product development calendar and WIP reports to identify team and vendor specific deliverables.
  • Partner with Design and Materials teams to influence mill allocation and drive vendor placement strategy based on product intent, line plan and business needs.
  • Oversee and lead Design and Materials teams with price/cost targets and cost engineering recommendations while maintaining product integrity and supporting design teams' aesthetic vision.
  • Oversee and manage the review all tech packs for product accuracy and clarity from design hand off through salesman sample stage.
  • Oversee and manage sample development and tracking processes from initial sample stage through salesman sample stage to ensure calendar deadlines are met through use of WIPs and tracking charts.
  • Oversee and manage all pre-production approvals from samples, mocks, wash submits, trims, embroideries, drums, and shade lots, etc. for approval from design hand off to production.
  • Oversee and manage non-technical internal and external communication related to product development, sourcing, costing, and pre-production directly with vendors.
  • Oversee issuance of development POs and keep track of seasonal balance and/or any analysis, review high-cost items and elevate concerns to category lead.

Costing/Sourcing Strategy
  • Partner with category leader(s) to develop seasonal and annual sourcing and placement strategies for categories assigned.
  • Lead cost meetings throughout the development process and at milestone meetings. Present quantitative and analytical data from seasonal hindsight reports, costing tool, and margin rolls to influence decision making.
  • Understand price value relationship, target market and competitor environment to establish retail and wholesale prices.
  • Review and manage all cost, MOQ and lead-time negotiations with vendors to ensure financials goals and business needs are prioritized.
  • Collaborate with production and materials teams for seasonal greige commitments to negotiate costs, lead times and flexible inventory plans.
  • Partner with merchants and planners on short-term and long-term projections to leverage buys and negotiate costs.
  • Collaborate with Materials and Production teams to plan and reserve mill and vendor capacity.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate maintenance and up to date vendor, coo, retail and cost related data in all tools and systems including but not limited to costing tools and Flex PLM.

Vendor Management:
  • Collaborate with Technical Design and Production teams to assess vendor capability and review seasonal vendor allocation.
  • Develop and maintain a country-of-origin strategy and allocate accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with strategic vendors and suppliers.
  • Meet with vendors to develop and strengthen relationships, to better understand sourcing capabilities, negotiate costs/lead-times, resolve outstanding issues and source innovation. Travel to meet with vendors and explore new sourcing opportunities.
  • Drive on-boarding process for new vendors in collaboration with Technical Design, Production and Compliance to ensure vendors understand company guidelines and procedures to complete product development and bulk production on time.

Management:
  • Manage and oversee attracting, hiring, coaching, retaining, and motivating a world class team. Monitor and evaluate the performance and contributions of direct reports and staff in attaining business goals and objectives and provide feedback and development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Oversee team to complete all deliverables on time according to development calendars.
  • Perform other duties as needed to help support the overall business.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • 4-year degree in fashion design, business or another related field.
  • Generally, 8 years of experience in apparel/retail with focused experience in sourcing or production related positions.
  • Generally, 3 years of experience supervising/managing, mentoring, and coaching teams focused on sourcing or production related positions. Demonstrated leadership skills to deliver results through the successful work of their team.
  • Deep understanding of product costs, production lead times, speed to market strategies, assortment, and fabric positioning. Strong understanding of garment construction, materials, and apparel manufacturing.
  • Strong MS Office, especially with Excel.
  • Flex PLM and Blue Cherry experience highly desired.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual's experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $100,000 - $150,000 Salaried
