SVP Chief Credit Officer (Finance)



Location: Sioux Falls, SD 
Shift: M-F 8am-5pm

About the Role
Oversees credit quality of the bank's loan portfolio. Requires expert knowledge of loan policy and effective credit administration, expert knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, and general awareness of the bank products and services offered. Key member of the bank's executive leadership team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the bank's overall strategic plan, including tactical objectives and goals to maximize potential in the marketplace.
  • Responsible for establishment and implementation of the bank's loan policy and lending guidelines, including all forms of Consumer Lending, Residential Mortgage Lending, Indirect Lending, Commercial and Industrial Lending, Commercial Real Estate Lending, and Ag Lending.
  • Oversee all aspects of the underwriting, approval, documentation, monitoring and collection of the bank's loan portfolio, including the training and development of our lenders and support staff.
  • Maintains an effective risk rating system for the bank and assists with determination of proper levels of Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL).
  • Responsible for the selection and administration of the bank's lending software and systems.
  • Serves as the point person for Federal and State examiners of the bank's Asset Quality.
  • Responsible for all operating, audit and control procedures to ensure full compliance with bank policy and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Effectively lead and manage assigned departments, personnel, and annual budgets.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Provides constructive and timely performance reviews. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in credit underwriting and loan portfolio management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, clear and effective verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous high priority projects and tasks while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate decision making process.
  • Ability to handle stress, exercise self-control, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in banking including extensive experience in lending and process management is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a supervisory role is required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office is required.
  • General knowledge of local market and industry trends is preferred.
