Associate Mobile Engineer (Finance)



As a member of the Enterprise Product Development Team, the Associate Mobile Engineer works under the guidance of senior engineers to contribute to the development and maintenance of Empyrean's mobile platforms. This entry-level role is designed for individuals beginning their software development careers, with opportunities for mentorship, learning, and professional growth. You will help implement mobile features, fix bugs, and support product initiatives while gaining experience in real-world application development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to development tasks as part of an agile team, participating in sprint planning and demonstrations
  • Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining Empyrean's mobile application source code
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to implement mobile features and bug fixes
  • Support Product, Design, and Engineering teams with feature implementation and testing
  • Participate in team discussions and design sessions, offering input and learning from others
  • Stay informed on mobile platform concepts and development trends
  • Write and maintain clear, well-documented code
  • Conduct and participate in basic code reviews with mentorship and guidance
  • Follow secure coding practices and assist in maintaining application quality
  • Learn from senior team members through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of native iOS/Android APIs, frameworks, and development principles
    • Android: Experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, 1+ years of experience preferred
    • iOS: Experience with Swift, UIKit, Xcode, 1+ years of experience preferred
  • Interest in building for both platforms; dual-platform experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs preferred
  • Willingness to follow coding best practices and continuously improve code quality
  • Eagerness to collaborate, learn from others, and receive feedback
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity and drive to solve problems and grow as an engineer
  • Exposure to Agile, Scrum, or Kanban processes is a plus
  • Commitment to learning and applying secure development practices
  • Experience documenting code
  • Must maintain HIPAA certification
  • Exposure to benefits administration or healthcare platforms is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred, or completion of an accredited coding bootcamp
