Maintenance Assistant (Maintenance)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Perform all assigned work in accordance with Lynden Air Cargo's General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (CFRs).

  • Conduct routine shop maintenance under direct supervision, appropriate to your training level and demonstrated skills.

  • Work independently on assigned tasks under the guidance of a Lead Mechanic or designee. Tasks may include shop and aircraft parts cleaning, FOD patrol, and general housekeeping.

  • Report abnormal conditions or discrepancies to supervisory personnel.

  • Participate in on-the-job training toward obtaining Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.

  • Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as needed in support of the maintenance team.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as maintenance manuals, wiring schematics, and structural repair manuals.

  • Comfortable communicating clearly in one-on-one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Ability

  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills in a controlled, highly regulated environment.

  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Must be dependable and able to perform general maintenance duties under supervision.

  • Requires manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel.

  • Frequently required to reach, climb, or balance, and communicate clearly.

  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., and occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs.

  • Vision requirements include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.

  • May occasionally be exposed to high places, fumes, airborne particles, or hazardous chemicals.

  • Noise levels range from moderate to loud.
