Sr. HSE Engineer – US Smart Energy & Thermal Solutions (SETS) (Finance)



As a Sr. HSE Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing the organization's health, safety, and environmental engineering efforts. You will ensure the highest standards of health and safety for employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and the implementation of best practices in engineering-related safety.

You will provide leadership and oversight to the Health Safety Environment (HSE) functions, activities, and performance for the HSE culture, establishing strong working relationships with site leadership team and the employees. You will report directly to the Sr HSE Manager - Americas.

You will be a key leader managing sustainable health and safety programs through incorporation of impactful operating processes. You will ensure Honeywell stays in front of leading practices in health and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure Compliance with Honeywell corporate requirements, SBU/SBG programs and local legislation (tracks changes, reviews/modifies local procedures to comply).
  • Conduct thorough Tier 2 and Tier 3 incident investigations (5-why, Why Tree, Tap Root, etc.), identify correct root causes (including systemic) and ensure respective corrective actions addresses them and prevent reoccurrences.
  • Maintain compliance obligations with OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Conduct contractor classification documentation for new SME & SGS field projects to identify and control risks before work execution.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with all SME project managers, HSE Focals, Site Leaders, Site Supervisors and Regional Managers on HSE Metric, Performance, Emerging Issues, SOS and Training Updates. Develop safety and tailboard topics.
  • Interface and collaboration with SME operational regional leaders, site supervisors, and HSE focal points to provide compliance updates and ensure the fulfillment of all compliance requirements by interpreting federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines to guarantee operations adhere to all applicable legal standards.
  • Direct collaboration with operational leadership, HSE leadership, HPS HSE Team implement and improve of safety program, and performance.
  • Create training curriculum and conduct training sessions to ensure compliance with laws; monitor completion rates.
  • Responsible for the completion of Maturity Verifications, HSE Metrics elements, MAPs, Aspects and Impacts and Assurance Letter Completion Process in MST.
  • Maintain/improve SETS HSE Management System performance and maturity.
  • Work with the respective HSE team to identify actions required to certify / maintain HSE Certification to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 etc.
  • Facilitate a change in Honeywell culture toward a safe working environment by enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Honeywell employees and sub-contractors
  • Audit Honeywell managed facilities to ensure we are compliant with statutory and corporate requirements and working to approved risk management plans. (Including Fire testing regulations, Radiation Devices Licenses, waste management, Lift inspections as per manufactures recommendation, etc.)
  • Manage project safety audits for compliance and review contractors' qualifications.
  • Up to 50% travel (to customer sites and projects in the US)
