Job Description
The Staff Accountant - US Retail is responsible for supporting the financial close process and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position will take ownership of all accounting functions related to day-to-day accounting operations, budgeting/forecasting, and month-end close procedures for assigned areas of the business. This position will oversee the financial data related to, but not limited to, the business' Retail operations. The Staff Accountant - US Retail plays a role in identifying opportunities to improve internal controls and streamline processes. This is a hybrid role; we work 4 days onsite, 1 day remote, weekly.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Close Activity :

  • Analyze GL account activity and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare month end journal entries and ensure all B/S accounts are properly supported.
  • Complete daily sales reporting for assigned business areas from generation to distribution.
  • Maintain and update sales reporting for Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly reports.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting- such as Brand Category or Cost Center reports- for the business departments using Essbase and HFM as appropriate.
  • Ensure month-end close reports and other assigned financial reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with the creation and input of annual budgets into HFM.

Month-End Reporting :
  • Manages the month-end closing process; account reconciliations, and key metric reporting.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve internal controls and procedure efficiency, escalating them to the appropriate parties when necessary.

SAP/HFM Reporting :
  • Manage and ensure accuracy of system data in SAP and HFM.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS Accounting
  • Capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding big picture implications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Power user with Excel functions
  • Strong systems experience, SAP or similar

Preferred Skills and Industry experience :
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Proficiency with SAP/BI tools and Hyperion planning
  • Experience working in a corporate accounting environment
