Quality Supervisor (Engineering)

Purpose and Scope

Thequality supervisor has responsibility and accountability for the quality, operating expense, schedule accomplishment, inventory and throughput measures and all legal and safety issues that pertain to assigned areas. The quality supervisor will coordinate all activities, lead and supervise all employees to meet the above objectives. The quality supervisor is also responsible for providing leadership that will promote change, spur innovation and drive a continuous improvement attitude among all employees

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train employees on inspection and gauging techniques.
  • Responsible and accountability for the quality, operating expense, schedule accomplishment, inventory and throughput measures
  • Facilitate resolution of the customer and supplier quality related issues - internal and external - in a cooperative fashion with other Timken personnel.
  • Lead and investigate supplier quality customer complaints, and implement effective corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Recommend quality improvements to existing procedures and practices.
  • Motivate and lead quality employees on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead by example to foster an environment that is safe, clean and enables employees to work to their highest potential.
  • Be accessible to employees and encourage two way interactive communication by having daily discussions and meetings.
  • Through coaching and teamwork, enable employees to reach their full potential and take charge of their own personal development.
  • This individual may generate and/or handle regulated (i.e. hazardous/non-hazardous) waste as part of this job. This must be disposed of in accordance with federal/state regulation.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Excellent Team and communication skills
  • Strong skill set in supplier management, measurement and acceptance of incoming purchased items and manufactured items
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Strong use of analytical tools such as Microsoft excel
  • Conversant with AMS specifications
  • Communications skills in motivation, development, continuous improvement, assessment and recognition are critical
  • Highly organized and process-oriented
  • AssociateDegree/ Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience in manufacturing (preferred)
  • US Citizenship or Green Card holder
