Regional Project Engineer (Finance)

The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI's overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family.

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for managing regional capital plan and projects from concept through scope definition, design, costing and planning. The Reginal Project Engineer is also accountable for successful installation/construction, documentations, start-up and follow up assessment of the projects.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Job is an individual contributor.
  • Work closely with plant personnel and Reginal Leadership to develop capital appropriation budget and provide input on engineering, purchasing and installation requirements for capital projects.
  • Lead and manage assigned projects to meet timelines, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all capital projects performed in a cost-effective manner in accordance with corporate and production requirements.
  • Generate preliminary cost estimates.
  • Develop project CRF (Capital Request for Funding) and manage ongoing costs.
  • Solicit, review, recommend, and obtain approval on bids for project work and equipment required.
  • Responsible for project vendor selections, cost negotiations, and approve invoicing.
  • Oversee plant construction management effort, document retention, start-up, training, and acceptance progress for each project.
  • Maintain detailed records for each project such as action plans, timelines, roles and responsibilities, cost tracking, and status against plan.
  • Review project records periodically to assess problems encountered, progress made, solutions identified, and opportunities to share learning and expertise among operations throughout the organization.
  • Provide technical engineering and project management support to other divisions of the company as requested
  • Create and maintain department technical specifications as part of continuous improvement effort.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills:
  • 5-10 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
  • Experience in capital plan and capital project management (preferably in meat or other food industry).
  • Knowledge of refrigeration, steam, and wastewater experience is a plus.
  • Use of laptop, MS suite of products.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail is key.

Preferred Education:

  • BA/BS or equivalent is preferred.
  • In engineering discipline (such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, civil, industrial, etc) or equivalent experience.

Work Environment:

  • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role requires 30% domestic travel.
  • Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Greater than 4 hours.
