Chief Information Security Officer (Information Technology)

Duties & Responsibilities:

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead the strategy and oversight of VIAVI's cyber security program.  You will be responsible for managing the security posture of information systems and data, governing security policies and managing risk through robust security measures.  Your team will work closely with cross-functional teams to execute security assessments, monitor vulnerabilities and respond to potential threats across all systems, platforms, networks and data globally.  The ideal candidate is passionate about reducing corporate risk, protecting critical systems and data, thrives in a collaborative environment, and excels at balancing technical expertise with compliance requirements to safeguard organizational assets.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and drive the enterprise-wide information and cyber security strategy across the company, with a vision to make VIAVI one of the most secure and trusted global companies

  • Oversee all aspects of security operations, governance, architecture, engineering and incident response to protect systems, networks, and our data

  • Lead the modernization of VIAVI's security environment

  • Support M&A activities by conducting risk assessments and providing risk-adverse integration design.

Risk and Compliance

  • Lead the global cyber risk management framework, aligning with regulatory requirements and business risk appetite

  • Ensure compliance with international data privacy and security regulations across all operating regions

  • Manage all cybersecurity compliance initiatives including ISO 27001 certification, DFARS/CMMC, NORA2, Cyber Essentials and respond to customer audits/security surveys.

  • Oversee risk management activities including threat intelligence, vulnerability management, supplier risk, Artificial Intelligence and data loss prevention.

  • Take leadership in policy setting and compliance, working closely with leading regulators and authorities

Security Culture & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Champion a proactive security culture across VIAVI's global workforce, including training, education, and executive engagement

  • Work cross functionally to ensure security is embedded across the enterprise

  • Serve as a key advisor to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors on cyber resilience and emerging threats

Incident Management

  • Manage the Corporate Incident Response Plan and testing

  • Liaise with legal authorities

Business Continuity

  • Coordinate Business Impact Assessment reviews and continuity plans

  • Liaise with Disaster Recovery teams

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Security or relevant disciplines and/or equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience leading security programs preferably in a technology related industry.

  • Proven ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels influencing technical and executive stakeholders.

  • Deep knowledge of global cybersecurity regulations and data protection.

  • Previous experience with ISO 27001 and DFARS.

  • Experience/knowledge of the following security operations technologies such as SIEM tools, firewalls, EDR technologies, VPNs, authentication tools, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience in building high performing global security teams.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical topics to a variety of audiences.
