Tooling Engineer (Engineering)



What you will do
The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the improvement of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment used in manufacturing processes. This role ensures that tooling solutions meet production requirements, quality standards, and cost-efficiency goals.

How you will do it

  • Lead training initiatives and develop programs to upskill toolmakers on new technologies and methods.

  • Manage and maintain molds, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with preventive maintenance plans.

  • Oversee integration of global PPAP molds and serve as liaison between global tooling processes and plant-level projects.

  • Own and validate the PPAP process for tooling and mold readiness in production.

  • Collaborate with Process Engineers and Toolroom Supervisor to address out-of-spec molds and ensure process capability.

  • Assess and validate incoming and repaired molds for production readiness and quality standards.

  • Manage the Mold Management Process to ensure consistency, reliability, and minimal downtime.

  • Act as relationship manager for external tooling services, overseeing scope, timelines, and budgets.

What we look for
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in tooling design and development, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining and molding

Our Florence, Kentucky components plant began operations in 1978 and here is home to our components plant which manufactures PowerFrame® grids and our battery containers and covers. Here we produce around 173,000 cases a day.
