The Director of Accounting will own and lead the accounting function for the Local Solutions business unit within IPG. Reporting directly to the Local Solutions Finance Director, this role will lead a team of Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants to drive excellence in accounting processes for the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Accounting Activities

  • Own the end-to-end accounting close process for Local Solutions, including the review of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Functional expert in accounting and financial reporting related matters who will provide guidance on US GAAP to
  • team members.
  • Compliance with internal management reporting policies and external financial reporting standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial reporting.

SOX, Controls, and Compliance
  • Ensure a strong internal control environment is in place in accordance with SOX and other internal control requirements.
  • Partner with corporate teams to develop and update accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely information is provided for audits, SOX compliance and related financial projects.
  • Mitigating and resolving any business risks or control deficiencies identified.
  • Own and coordinate all processes and controls related to planned cycle counts, full physical inventories, and physical asset verifications.

Process Simplification & Standardization

  • Partner with the Local Solutions finance team to prioritize the list of processes and procedures to be simplified and standardized within the organization, including, but not limited to: production reconciliations, journal entries, capital expenditures, fixed asset management, inventory management, internal controls and SOX items, financial and cost reporting, manufacturing KPIs, and operational leadership reporting packages.
  • Lead the efforts to seek out current best practices for a process/procedure, create a simplistic and standard process/procedure for the network, seek feedback from all key stakeholders involved in the process/procedure, create training documents for the new standard process/procedure, and roll out the newly effective process/procedure.
  • Seek approval from SOX and Internal Audit organizations prior to updating any processes/procedures that may affect the internal control environment.
  • Support ERP integration preparations in alignment with overall Infrastructure Products Group (IPG) systems strategy involving significant investment in a new ERP system
  • Participate in a range of group / divisional projects as required

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, develop and mentor a team of Regional Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants.
  • Delegate accounting and control activities to team members, as appropriate.
  • Understand team deliverables to help prioritize workloads for the team.
  • Provide effective leadership to staff, direct reports, and others within the organization to improve their performance and advance their career development

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) highly desirable with at least 10+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a global public company environment with significant exposure in manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Experience with complex ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, SysPro, Sage)
  • Advanced MS Office
  • Travel - up to 25%
  • Attention to detail around producing high quality products and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and this independently about alternative ways to solve problems based on analysis of data.
  • Strong communicator with history of synthesizing/communicating complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a demonstrated history of implementing business process changes and driving innovation.
  • Ability to act independently as a subject matter expert with limited supervision.
  • Ability to implement ideas across a multi-plant environment
  • Ability to influence others without a direct reporting relationship.
