Scheduler (Healthcare)



Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, weekends/on-call as needed
Salary: $20-$25 per hour
Reports To: Director of Nursing / Administrator

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Scheduler to manage and coordinate staff schedules across all nursing departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare staffing needs, be able to respond quickly to changes, and maintain optimal staffing levels to ensure resident care and compliance with state requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly staff schedules
  • Fill open shifts due to call-offs, vacations, or increased census
  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure adequate staffing coverage
  • Monitor staff availability and preferences while maintaining fairness and compliance
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding schedule changes or updates
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, call-outs, and staffing changes
  • Support compliance with staffing regulations and policies
  • Participate in audits, meetings, and other administrative functions as needed
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or higher preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in scheduling, preferably in healthcare or long-term care
  • Familiarity with scheduling software (OnShift, or similar)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of staffing ratios and state/federal staffing regulations (preferred)
  • Must have a valid STNA licensure
