Technical Operations Specialist (Finance)



We are excited to welcome a Technical Operations Specialist to our Barberton, OH team! Join us in our mission to rid the world of rubber waste!

Schedule: 4:00pm - 2:00am, Mon-Thu (Regular Friday work should be expected)

Pay Range: $68,000 - $85,000, based on experience

Summary: This is a new position where you'll coordinate production at our Cardinal facility for an assigned area (EPDM/ Press) and work with the Operations Manager to ensure production is carried out efficiently, within budget, and to high quality standards. This role will plan and coordinate activities concerned with production; establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors; and continuously strive to improve all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.

The Impact You'll Make:

  • Monitor all phases of production of work area ensuring work meets quality standards; work to resolve production issues on a daily basis. Ensuring that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently by monitoring and evaluating production procedures.
  • Provided technical guidance to leadership and employees on the operation and maintenance of the Banbury and/or Press process. Maintains standard of work and technical documentation. Support the startup/ shutdown of Banbury and/or Press operations.
  • Supervise the daily work performance of the employees including providing leadership, direction and training in the performance of work duties. Manages manpower requirements/needs. Coordinates with Operations Manager on addressing hiring needs and performance issues according to company policy.
  • Coordinate and maintain daily production schedules; ensure all materials are available to meet daily production needs. Provides management with updates daily regarding demand and supply. Determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material; compiles and maintains material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials. Requisitions material according to job order priorities and material availability; works with both Supply Chain and Accounts Payable to ensure purchase orders are issued and the billing process flows smoothly.
  • Oversee the maintenance/upgrade of equipment so that equipment is fully operational and does not negatively impact the production schedule. Coordinates and supervises completion of unplanned and planned Maintenance requests in accordance with standard operating and safety procedures of all equipment to minimize plant down time. Coordinate with production management, maintenance personnel and outside vendors to direct scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs and changeover of new and existing equipment.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact/liaison of the plant for EH&S issues. Ensure overall safety; ensure employees follow proper safety procedures in the completion of daily tasks; conduct communication meetings on a regular basis and coordinate the safety training of employees.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred
  • 3+ years supervisory experience required, preferably in a similar manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience required
  • Prior experience with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems in an industrial environment; experience and knowledge of welding and fabricating are preferred
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office required, ERP experience preferred)
  • Proven commitment to safety and quality within the workplace
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a variety of production and employee related issues including effective: delegation of work responsibilities; time management; interpersonal effectiveness in challenging personal situations; cultural diversity; coaching, cross-training and development for employee team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw appropriate conclusions
